Review of the Hyatt Centric Milan: Vibrant , Modern, and Convenient

I recently spent 5 nights in Italy, with 3 of then in Milan. When looking for hotels in Milan, my search consisted of 2 criteria: Good Value & Hyatt Brand. While there are several boutique hotels that partner with Hyatt in Milan, the two main properties under the Hyatt umbrella are the Hyatt Centric Milan and the Park Hyatt Milan. The Park Hyatt Milan is a category 8 hotel and costs a whopping 40,000 points per night. Thus we decided on the Hyatt Centric Milan Centrale. Here’s the full review!

Booking

I booked three nights at this property in the base room using Hyatt Category 1-4 free night award certificates. The Hyatt Centric Milan is a category 4 property and could cost anywhere from 12,000-18,000 points per night. Paid rates at this property were over $220 per night so we got over $700 in value from 3 free night certificates. I earned these certificates from the World of Hyatt Credit Card, and milestone bonuses.

Check In

We arrived in Milan around 7pm hoped into an Uber and arrived at the hotel a little bit after 7:30. I was tired, but check in was quick. The hotel has a clean check in area and we were provided 4 complimentary drink coupons that could be redeemed at the bar. During check in, I was also notified that we were getting upgraded to a junior suite as Hyatt Globalist. As a Hyatt Globalist, I was also explained how breakfast worked and that it would be served on the 4th floor restaurant.

After going through the details, the agent kindly pulled out a map of the city and explained how to use the transit system, key districts to visit, and which shopping districts to visit. This was a recurring theme during our trip in Europe and made the hospitality/service truly stand out.

The Room

As noted earlier, I was upgraded to a suite which also included a Turkish bath. We never had the opportunity to try it out. Our suite was on the smaller side and desk/working space was separated from the bedroom by a thin wall. As part of our welcome amenity, we recieved boxed cocktails which was an interesting gift.

Our bathroom had ample storage space and a walk in shower. Additionally, we had a second sink and a heated drying rack for towels which served to both keep our towels warm and reduce the need to change towels after each shower.

In true Italian fashion, there was an espresso machine that uses Lavazza capsules. It was nice and refreshing to see a proper espresso machine vs an off brand Keurig and the taste was noticeably better. There wasn’t a water boiler in the room, but a simple phone call and 10 minutes later we had one. Our room wasn’t overly spacious but provided a cozy space for the evening after a long day of walking.

Breakfast

Breakfast was served in the property’s restaurant every day beginning at 6:30am until 11am. Breakfast was served as a buffet, with the option to order freshly cooked eggs to your liking. Breakfast typically cost $28 per person but was included in our stay thanks to my Hyatt Globalist Status.

One side of the impressive selection of Pastries

The buffet spread was impressive containing a variety of croissants with hazelnut, cream, chocolate, or pistachio filling. There was also a nice selection of charcuterie including Bresaola, Prosciutto, Mortadella, and Salami. A few cheeses were also available along with an impressive selection of juices. True to its Italian roots, you can also have freshly made espresso, cappuccinos, lattes, or americanos with your meal. The staff at the restaurant were wonderful and friendly.

Overall Thoughts

The Hyatt Centric Milan Centrale certainly beat my expectations. The hotel is modern with a unique and vibrant design. The hotel is located a couple blocks from Milan’s bustling Centrale train station giving you access to Central Milan, Lake Como, Venice, Rome, and more! The service was excellent and the property left a great impression thanks in part to an impressive buffet spread, especially for a Hyatt Centric! This was a wonderful way to kick off our trip before heading off to the Venice and the Hyatt Centric Murano.
