Awesome!!! World of Hyatt: Guest of Honor

Yoga at the Hyatt Carmel Valley Ranch

The World of Hyatt loyalty program has a special perk for top tier elite members (Hyatt Globalist) called Guest of Honor. This perk allows you to book a stay using points for a friend or a family member, while also gifting Hyatt Globalist benefits for the duration of the stay. I recently utilized this perk to book my parents a stay at the Park Hyatt Washington DC where rates were going for about $500 per night during the upcoming fall.

Why?

The Guest of Honor program allows you to book an award stay for someone and gifting them Hyatt Globalist for the duration of their stay. The stay can only be booked on points and you are also unable to use suite upgrade certificates or free night certificated. This program is amazing because it allowed me to book my parents a 4 night using their own Chase Ultimate Rewards points, while receiving daily complimentary breakfast at the property restaurant, late checkout, and free parking.

How to Book?

Booking is fairly simple. Like any award reservation, you must find standard room award space on Hyatt’s website then call the globalist number to make that reservation. You may also be able to book with your Hyatt concierge via email. The process was quick and within a few minutes I recieved a confirmation email for the reservation. Just make sure to have the number of points needed in your account. One suggestion or tip is too try to make a points booking for the nights you are planning, but don’t actually confirm the reservation. This allows you to get the exact total number of points needed since peak pricing has been implemented.

My Thoughts

Not to sounds over the top, but this perk is one of my favorite parts of the World of Hyatt Program. Where other programs make it nearly impossible to book stays for others, Hyatt makes it seamless. While Hyatt has implemented a few negative changes such as peak pricing and category upgrades(mostly in the U.S.), the program continues to offer amazing benefits and remain the most valuable top tier elite status available. I love being able to share my benefits for amazing vacations for my parents who would never have booked Park Hyatt Properties. Sadly, I wish I was able to use a suite upgrade certificate, but we shall see if the hotel gives a complimentary upgrade!
