Manufactured Spending 2022: My Year End Review – Great Success

Manufactured Spending is a highly lucrative method to generate enormous amounts of miles and points. I’ve covered severed well known methods over the years, but here’s my full recap for Manufactured Spending 2022 even though we still have December left.

Elite Statuses Earned

Hyatt Globalist

I stayed about 20 or so nights at Hyatt properties this year. I stayed 2 nights at Carmel Valley Ranch, Alila Napa Valley, Hyatt Regency Manchester, Hyatt Regency Sonoma. I also stayed 3 nights at the Hyatt Place Anchorage, 4 nights at the Hyatt Regency Seattle, and 5 nights at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach. Jen and I also spent one night at the Hyatt Regency Monterey. With only 21 nights of completed stays, I was able to re-qualify for Hyatt Globalist thanks to spending on the World of Hyatt Credit Card.

Jen and I used our Category 1-7 free night certificate at the Alila Napa Valley (Now category 8)

This year, I was able to manufacture spend a large amount on this card (which also came with 5 elite night credits) to reach top tier Hyatt status. Hyatt Globalist is my favorite hotel elite status (also the most valuable in my opinion).

During the process of earning Hyatt Globalist, I also received the following:

  • 1 Category 1-7 Free Night Certificate ($600)
  • 4 Suite Upgrade Awards ($200)
  • 1 Category 1-4 Free Night Certificate($100)
  • 4 Club Lounge Access Awards
  • 5,000 Bonus Points ($50)

American Airlines Platinum Pro

With American Airlines shifting towards loyalty points, I decided to run a fun experiment and see if I could manufacture top tier American Airlines status. With a combination of shopping portal deals and spend on the American Airlines Business Credit Card by Citi, I’ve earned about 155,000 loyalty points granting me Platinum Pro status.

Credit Card Sign-Up Bonuses Earned

Manufacture Spending the Signup Bonus on this card allowed me to book United Polaris transcontinental seats for my parents

2022 was a down year for churning and I only opened the American Airlines Business Credit Card. I also opened a United Mileage Plus credit card (waived annual fee for the 1st year) for my dad to rack up some United miles for a flight to the East Coast.

All in all, I only needed to meet a minimum spend requirement total of $8,000 to earn 60,000 United Miles and 60,000 American Airlines Miles.

Final Thoughts

Manufactured spending varies for each person, but if you’re able to find a method that works, this process could be extremely lucrative. My manufactured spending 2022 summary is proof that M.S. still works. In 2022 alone, Jen and I were able to stay at several amazing properties, we were able to travel in style, and I was able to use Hyatt’s Guest of Honor program to book a stay at the Park Hyatt Washington DC for my parents. If you’ve ever had doubts about manufactured spending or credit card churning, nows an awesome time to jump into the game!
