When in Texas, you have to try smoked brisket. Nothing spells Texas food like smoked meats. During my recent trip to Houston, I had a chance to dine at the Pit Room. This Texas Style BBQ serves utterly delicious smoked meats and has over 5,000 Google Reviews! Here’s how my visit went.

Location
The Pit Room is located in Houston nearby the Midtown Area. There’s really not much around this spot so driving or taking an Uber will be your best bet. At a glance, The Pit Room looks like a small shack but offers a good amount of indoor and outdoor seating. There weren’t too many indoor seats left so my buddy and I sat on the patio!
The Food
My buddy and I both had the three meat combo for $22. It comes with 3 choices of meat and 2 sides. I had two sides of mac n cheese along with smoked brisket, pork ribs, and a hot link. The Brisket is a few hearty slices and at least 1/3 pound’s worth. In addition, We also ordered one beef rib which was more expensive than the three meat combo. In stark contrast to the pork ribs which were chewier, the beef rib simply melts in your mouth. The nice smokey flavors of the meat paired well with the hot BBQ sauce provided creating an adventure for your taste buds.

Thoughts
I’ve been to several BBQ spots such as Smoke Shack in Milwaukee, but this experience was simply different. Past experiences were more of a sit down and order type affair, while the Pit Room is grab and go. I loved the ability to watch the staff cut mouth water slices of carefully smoke brisket! The Pit Room was utterly delicious and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who’s visiting Houston.
