Details
British Airways announces new flights from London Heathrow(LHR) to Cincinnati (CVG). They will be operating this flight using their Boeing 787-8, which is not as snazzy as their newest planes but still offer a solid business class product. Flights will run 4-5 a week depending on the time of the year(4x per week in Winter and 5x Per week in Summer). The airline notes that “this will be the 27th U.S. destination served directly from London by British Airways” and this new route “offers access to a wide range of US destinations on offer for work and fun”. Flights start June 5, 2023.

My Thoughts
I guess there was enough demand from both sides of the pond to warrant a direct flight from London to Ohio. Ohio is bleak state that doesn’t exactly scream tourism. The neighboring states such as Kentucky are important centers of fulfillment so maybe that was a driver in offering these new routes. I can’t see many if any people wanting to travel to Cincinnati in the Winter where temperatures hover below freezing.
This is a very interesting decision by the airline and only time will tell if this new route is profitable. At the very least, this could create an interesting option to redeem points, but surcharges on British Airways are heinous.
