I recently stayed at the Hyatt Regency Birmingham while visiting the city of Birmingham in the United Kingdom. The hotel is located in a pristine spot, with many attractions either next door or within walking distance. The hotel has a very modern exterior and a spectacular interior that make this property feel more unique than typical Hyatt Regencies.

Location
The city of Birmingham is located about 125 miles from London, about a 2 hour plus drive. The city is located at about the midway point between Manchester and London. The Hyatt Regency Birmingham is located near the city’s center, across from the Birmingham Library which is utterly gorgeous. The property is also within walking distance to many of the city’s attraction such as the Bull Ring and Grand Central mall, and the canal that runs through the heart of the city.
The Room
Since this was a special visit, I decided to splurge on the properties top tier executive suite. I made the booking entirely on points and since this property is a category 3, nights typically run between 9,000 to 15,000 points per night. This property certainly does not feel like a category 3. The suite was extremely spacious containing an expansive living room, a separate bedroom and bath, and expansive views of the canal below. The room also included a Nespresso machine.

Amenities
This Hyatt Regency had a smaller club lounge which served refreshments and drinks daily. As a Hyatt Globalist, complimentary breakfast was severed at the onsite restaurant the Aria. Breakfast was buffet style with a great selection. Breakfast service was typically busy during the days I was there, but seats didn’t tend to fill up until after 9am.
The property also has a small pool and fitness area, both of which seemed to be on the smaller side. I used the pool several times and the locker rooms were clean and modern. The property also offered a spa service, but I didn’t take a look at pricing or scheduling.

Service
Service was great and Hyatt never fails me. I was traveling with family for a special occasion and the front desk had an agent accompany us to our suite. In addition, service requests were always completed in a timely manner and everyone felt warm and welcoming.
The one highlight of my stay was the hotel placing a birthday cheesecake and macaroons in our room before arrival. Special thanks to my concierge Devin who helped make this happen. This neat surprise really made our special trip and my family greatly enjoyed the treats.
Final Thoughts
As always, Hyatt seems to always be at the top of the line. Their excellent service, guaranteed late checkout, and the neat surprise for my cousin made this stay special. The property was a bit small for a Hyatt Regency, but the hotel was eloquently designed and the lobby had a boutique feeling. This created a very nice ambiance and the property felt less business oriented.
