Earning Points and Miles: My 2020 Goals

2019 was a wonderful year for earning points and miles. With the majority of my earnings coming from retail arbitrage and new credit card signups, I ended the year having earning over 500K American Express Platinum points, about 400k United Miles, 200k Hilton points, and about 60k Chase Ultimate reward points. This was a very nice hall but I hope to take this one step further.

My current card portfolio

I currently have a mid size credit card portfolio. With chase, I have the Ink Cash, Freedom, Freedom Unlimited, and United Mileage Plus. Without a Chase Saphire card, I am unable to transfer my points so that card will be next up on my shopping list. With American Express, I have the Amex Platinum and Amex Hilton Business Card. My Amex Platinum card is used solely for travel purchases, while my Hilton card is my everyday card so I can meet the 15k spend required for a free weekend night. Finally, I also have the Discover It miles card. This card has no annual fee and was my first credit card so I keep it stashed.

My Goal

In 2020, I hope to open a couple of new cards and really dive into manufactured spending. I would like to write a weekly or bi-weekly summary of my progress, but we will see how that goes. So far this year, I have opened the Chase Ink Cash and have met the spend requirement for the 50k point bonus. In addition, I have earned about 80k Hilton points and 25k United miles. All these points earning were from work or organic spend so I am hoping to utilize manufactured spending to boost my points balance with Chase and maybe a Hyatt or Marriot card.

Lets see where this goes. I hope to earn about 600k Amex points, 150k Chase points, 200k United Miles, and 500k Hilton point this year. I also hope to get the Hyatt credit card and put about 130k spend to get Hyatt Globalist using a combination of organic and manufactured spend.
