Raise.com is a wonderful place to purchase gift cards. Top Cashback(my referral link) is currently offering 15% cashback to all Hotels.com orders making this a wonderful opportunity to purchase discounted gift cards for upcoming travel. I would refrain from speculatively purchasing gift cards, but this can be a great deal for some.
Remember, bookings made with Hotels.com do not count towards Elite status nor do they earn reward points. On the other hand, this is an excellent opportunity to get discounted stays. Most hotels are able to include your elite status benefits if you call in.
