A Job Well Done A Review of the Juniper Hotel King Suite by Hilton

For a quick long weekend getaway, I booked a two night stay at the Juniper Hotel, A Curio Collection by Hilton. This property is located in downtown Cupertino nearby an Apple Office. Over the past couple years, most of my hotel stays have been with either Hilton or Hyatt. I stay at Hilton because of the amazing staff, and while I only have Hilton Gold status, I have always been able to get at least 1pm late-checkout. Jen and I occasionally stayed at Hyatt due to family discounts and I have stayed one night at the AC Hotel Miami, but overall I enjoy the benefits I receive when visiting Hilton Properties.

Booking and Check-in

I was able to snag the King-Suite for a couple of nights and booked directly on Hilton’s website. I paid with my Hilton Business American Express Card which earns a cool 12 points per dollar on Hilton Spend and came with automatic Hilton Gold Status, which I also had as a benefit of the American Express Platinum Card. I got the Hilton Business Card around Summer last year as Business Cards do not count towards the Chase 5/24 rule.

Hilton has done a wonderful job overhauling and developing an exceptional mobile app. I was able to both check-in and select my room via their mobile app. You are also able to get your digital key through the app, but Jen and I preferred the standard card keys(Call me Old School). Using the app, I was able to select our room for the two night stay. When checking in, most of the Kin Suites were available. Each floor has 2 King Suites, with one being a corner suite. I would try to pick a corner suite if possible as they look a little bigger and offer a nice view of Downtown Cupertino.

The Room

The room included a living room, a bedroom, and a large bathroom with a soaking tub and a glass shower. Both rooms had a 47 inch TV and the bedroom was stocked with comfy sheets. While the room decor was a bit funky, each Curio Collection Hotel is unique and the room was definitely unique.

Amenities

The hotel had a small gym with dumbbells up to 75 pounds. Jen and I were able to get in a workout during our down time. As a Hilton Gold member, we were also given two bottles of water daily, but if you bring a refillable bottle, there is a water station in the gym. In addition, Hilton Gold Members can choose between a bonus of 1000 Hilton Points or Complimentary Continental Breakfast. In this case we opted for the complimentary breakfast which was given in the form of a daily breakfast credit of $10 per person. Breakfast is served in the hotel’s cafe/bar known as Park Place. We put the $20 breakfast credit to use by upgrading to the buffet on one occasion, and ordering from the menu on the next time around. When ordering from the main menu, we had the “toast two ways” and opted for two slices of avocado toast topped with egg and bacon. The order came with two slices of avocado toast and tater tots. Jen and I were able to split the dish which was extremely filling.

Service

With Hilton’s modernization, I was able to message the front desk through my Hilton app to request late checkout. As a gold member, late checkout is not guaranteed, but I have never had a problem with getting 1pm late checkout at a Hilton property. The agent responded within seconds to my inquiry and my request was completed in under a minute. The Hilton staff also sent a welcome message and notifications of hotel events including the complimentary wine tasting event held during happy hour. Finally, when having the two ways toast breakfast, the waiters offered Jen and I complimentary fruit. I think these simple gestures and the warm atmosphere is where Hilton earns my loyalty. The service was very good and I was happy to leave a glowing review.

Conclusion

The Corner King Suite at the Juniper Hotel, A Curio Collection by Hilton, was a nice room with a large soaking tub for two. The other elements of the room were pretty standard, but the hotel staff was simply amazing. I think the staff made a huge difference in making our stay comfortable and easy. I definitely enjoyed and fully utilized the benefits of being a Hilton Honors Gold member. The area around the hotel was nice and since it was the weekend, the traffic was relatively mild. Overall, if I have the chance, I will definitely be staying here again.
