Kaisen Don

Chirashi Re-imagined

Kaisen Don is small sushi place offering a refreshing new take on Chirashi. For those of you who’ve never had a chirashi, it is a rice bowl filled with sushi toppings and sashimi. Filled with fresh ingredients and sashimi filled with umami, Chirashi Bowls are perfect for any ocassion.

Jen’s Chirsashi Bowl

Jen ordered a sashimi based Chirashi containing Salmon, Tuna, Albacore, and Hamachi. These are the most common fish found in sashimi, yet they tasted free and full of flavor. In addition, a small salmon skin roll was on the house and tasted wonderful with the salmon flavoring just right and not overpowering.

Calvin’s Chirashi Bowl

My Chirashi bowl was slightly different that Jen’s and contain shellfish and Ikura(Salmon Roe). While Jen’s bowl was delicious and lighter in punch, the Ikura and Kani(crab) were bursting with flavor and contrasting the flavor of sushi rice with its saltiness creating a nice balance.

Price: $$(15-20)

Normally, Kaisen Don will run you just under 20 dollars a bowl. Luckily there was a Groupon Sale for 40% off meaning a 20 dollar bowl could cost you just 12 dollars. On day Jen and I went, we were able to get $40 in value for just $24 thanks to this promotion.

Overall Experience

Kasien Don, was a pleasant surprise and a wonderful experience. While Jen and I have heard rave reviews about the spot, I’m glad we were finally able to make a visit. The staff was extremely friendly and the food was delicious and exceed our expectations. I would definitely come here again and recommend this place for other sushi lovers.
