Visiting Chicago for 5 days for a personal trip, Jen and I decided to book 4 nights at the Hyatt Centric Magnificent Mile. While the Hyatt Centric brand’s description of “upper-upscale lifestyle hotels in the center of their destination” may be a hit or miss for some travelers, I find the brand to be very solid overall. Hyatt Centric properties tend to be smaller, but and provides a more boutique feel. Some of the Hyatt Centric properties I’ve stayed at in the past include the Hyatt Centric Milan and the Hyatt Centric Venice Murano.

Overall, I thought that the property was centrally located ( a block away from the Magnificent Mile), new and well maintained, and reasonably priced for the Summer. Here’s my full review!
Booking
I booked 4 nights at this hotel about 6 months in advance. For the record, I am a Hyatt Globalist and tend to primary stay at Hyatt branded properties. I paid 15,000 points per night for a total of 60,00 points and also applied a suite upgrade certificate. Room rates for this time of the year was around $250 per night, very reasonable for the weekend of Lollapalooza.
Check In

I arrived on a red-eye flight around 6:30am and was able to get early check in at 10:30am. Check in was super quick and there was no line. The lobby is acutally on the second floor, so you will need to take an elevator to get to the lobby. I think this helps to keep the lobby nice and tidy during the winter months.
Additionally, the staff also notified us of a daily $15 complimentary credit that could be used at the bar. I also received daily breakfast coupons for 3 guest per day. The front desk also proactively programmed our key cards for 4pm late checkout.
Room
With my suite upgrade certificate, I got checked into a standard suite on the 16th floor. While the property is centrally located, Chicago is full of skyscrapers, so if you’re looking for a wonderful view, you’ll be a bit out of luck. Our suite was located on the high floor and was extremely spacious.
There were two TVs in the room, a walk in shower, and a soaking tub. Additionally, the room had a modern night stand with automatic lights that turned on when you toughed the ground. This was a great plus for late night and a feature that should be at all high end hotels. The bedroom was separated from the living room with French Doors which I found to elevate the feeling of luxury.

Food
We had complimentary breakfast everyday at the property which consisted of a solid buffet spread. There was a handful of standard hot food options such as sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs, and pancakes. Additionally, you could also order eggs as well. There was also a nice selection of pastries, fruit, and a yogurt bowl station. I think breakfast was pretty solid.
Amenities
The hotel had a gym and a pool. The gym was fairly well stocked, but the pool was absolutely small. It was the size of a typical backyard pool. I didn’t get a chance to checkout the gym and ended up running along Lake Michigan instead.
Overall Thoughts
The Hyatt Centric Magnificent Mile is a wonderful property that’s modern and centrally located in downtown Chicago. The property sits just one block away from Michigan Avenue and a couple blocks away from the Starbucks Reserve Roastery Chicago. I was able to easily snag a suite upgrade ahead of time and really enjoyed the extra space. The property’s addition of French Doors was a nice touch and the complimentary breakfast was very solid.
