Mouth Watering SUBs: Little Lucca Sandwiches

Even during a difficult time with shelter-in-place or other stay at home orders, many local restaurants are still operating and serving take out only. I try to support local spots every week and this week I was able to grab one of the famous sandwiches at Little Lucca Sandwich Shop in South San Francisco, CA.

Location

Little Lucca Sandwich Shop is a small hole in the wall sandwich spot that is open for lunch daily. They have two locations, but I have only gone to their South San Francisco location. Located just minutes away from SFO, this joint offers mouth watering subs togo.

The Food

Little Lucca has a wide variety of meats and toppings to chose from, but their specialty lies in their garlic sauce and hot sauce. Their sauce brings normal subs to a mouth watering level. For this visit, I ordered a Toscano Salami Sandwich on dutch crunch finished with Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, and extra sauces on both slices of bread. the sandwich contained a heaping amount of Toscano Salami, which is leaner than your typical Italian Salami. The sandwich was delicious and their signature sauces really made a huge difference. I tend to skip on the mustard and mayo and get both slices of bread lathered in the garlic sauce.

Conclusion

Overall, Little Lucca is one of my favorite sandwich shops around. From great prices about 11 dollars per sub, to massive portions (each can fill two people) this is one of my favorite hole in the wall spots in the Bay Area. If you are ever in the area, be sure to check out this amazing place. Just be careful, the lines at Little Lucca can be crazy. During pre-Covid-19, lines would be upwards of 30 minutes just to grab an amazing sub. During this visit, the wait was around 15 minutes (not bad at all). If flying out of SFO, this would be a great pit stop to grab a sandwich for the flight. Be careful, you might have some jealous neighbors.
